Director, Producer, DP, Editor / Kenny
Kenny is a short non-fiction film about the discovery of possibilities for people with multiple disabilities.
As we learn in the first scene of the film, Kenny was born premature. Due to complications and negligence at the hospital, Kenny became totally blind and profoundly deaf.
When I met Clara and Kenny, introduced through a mutual acquaintance, I was impressed by Clara’s bravery and creativity in confronting the world with Kenny every day. As a mother, she sees herself as responsible for linking Kenny with the rest of the world, and giving him all the stability she can while she can.
Watching Kenny and Clara relate to each other is humbling. Their love and trust has made me revisit every relationship in my life and hold myself and my loved ones to higher standards.
This film was made possible through a program called LINK Musketeers, run by Downtown Community Television Center and funded in part by the US State Department and the Eurasia foundation. It was shared with filmmakers and people with disabilities in Russia. It was also be shown on New York public television.
